Our AGM will be held May 14th at Eureka Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Thank you to everyone who came out to our supper on March 31st and to our speakers for presenting as well. It was a great turn out and we are looking forward to next year.
Naming Our Streams
Some names that are on the official registered listing but have precise origin unknown include; the Doig River, George Lake, Hay Lake, Jack Creek, Lightening Creek, Rambling Creek, Running Lake and Sweeney Creek. If you have background information you wish to share on any of these waterbodies you can contact a CHWI member, email to our website or contact 780-494-2228. We welcome all participation with this endeavour.
Our Goals:
- To educate the public on water concerns and how to improve usage.
- To protect the quality and quantity of water found within the County as best as possible, as well as wildlife (including fish) that depends upon this resource.
- To address potential water concerns stemming from, but not limited to industrial, forestry and agricultural practices.
- To establish a baseline for water quality and quantity. This includes surface drinking water (dugouts) used widely in the County.
- To determine problem areas and how best to address them, as well as determine special areas that should be protected.
- To examine common practices and see how best to improve them.
- To develop partnerships with other watershed groups in the area and work with them to maintain quality water. Partnerships also include working with the Clear Hills County office and the village of Hines Creek.
